– Colossians 3:23-24 NIVUK A timely reminder for me as I commute into college after a full-on weekend. Hope it encourages you as you get on with whatever you do today.

LICC →
Mark Greene from LICC was at college yesterday.  Gave an excellent talk about discipleship and the tendency we have to divide our life into holy and ordinary bits (sacred and secular).  Read his booklet on the way home. Very very good, and very challenging.

I love Jesus, but I don't hate religion. Here's 3...
The Jesus vs Religion thing comes out up again and again around certain groups of Cristians.  Its recently come up again in the poetic words of Jeff Bethke in a viral thats all over (certain parts) of the web right now.   I like a lot of the poem, and agree with some of what Bethke says,  but I’m always very uncomfortable when Christianity, or even Jesus-loving, is put in opposition to...

– Philippians 2 Increasingly I’m realising just how much I need to hear God’s good news;  I need to be evangelised.  As I sat down to read these famous words this morning I was already thinking about some viral video I didn’t agree with.  Getting all uptight about about people I...

Question
A few authority figures like the Queen and D Cameron have been talking up Christianity recently. After years of secularanity defining the government it does feel refreshing. But is it a good thing? Seems like it could be a hark back to Christendom rather than a real move forward. Any thoughts?

Missional Communities with Kids and Youth →
It’s my turn to write on the missional communities uk blog.  This is what I came up with. The post finishes with a question that I’ll ask over here too. How do you include kids and youth in your missional community?

For the Dawn
This world is not as it should be. Darkness reigns, death, exploitation, evil. Some of us respond by hoarding possessions, education, resources with which we construct a barrier to keep us safe in our own faked Eden. Even here death stalks waiting for his moment and strikes with a sickness here, an accident there. We’re surprised when it happens, but darkness reigns. And all the while it grows...

Loving and Destroying
Thinking about the stories of Jesus, the leper and the centurion from Matthew 8. Wherever Jesus went people were loved and suffering was defeated. Seems that is what he trained his disciples to do as well. Who are you calling me to love? Where are you calling me to destroy evil? Give me strength and courage God.

Provocative video from Mike and 3dm.  I like it. Perhaps the situation in the UK is a bit further on from the USA in this area.  To me it seems like there are one or two really good new approaches to ordination training in this country that focus on character and competency well.  One of those is definitely the college I go to.
